Zeitgeist trilogy - documentaries

I've found these documentaries to be very interesting, and they have developed some what of a cult following, particularly among people on the Internet.  All three deal with different subjects; some topics include the US monetary system, globalization, social change, conspiracy theories, religion, human nature, natural resources, and economics.

Personally, I do not normally suggest the first film because it has many unsubstantiated conspiracy theories.  The second and third film have become two of my favorite documentaries.  But, I will let you be the judge.  These three films have been released for free on the Internet.  The main page for the films is at http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/.

Zeitgeist:  The Movie (2007, 122 minutes)

Zeitgeist:  Addendum (2008, 123 minutes)

Zeitgeist:  Moving Forward (2011, 161 minutes)

Free Culture by Lawrence Lessig - ebook

Free Culture:  How Big Media Uses Technology and the Law to Lock Down Culture and Control Creativity

This ebook was released on the Internet under the Creative Commons license.  From Wikipedia:  "Professor Lessig analyzes the tension that exists between the concepts of piracy and property in the intellectual property realm in the context of what he calls the present 'depressingly compromised process of making law' that has been captured in most nations by multinational corporations that are interested in the accumulation of capital and not the free exchange of ideas."  Visit the website for more information:  http://www.free-culture.cc/index.html

Earthlings - feature length animal rights documentary

This documentary absolutely changed my life.  Released in 2005 and lasting for 95 minutes, this film delves into the realities of the meat industry, animal experimentation, and all other areas that involve the exploitation of animals.  Earthlings is probably the most violent and disturbing film you will ever see.  I highly recommend it to anyone out there that professes at least a minute love of animals.

Home - environmental documentary

This has been a favorite of mine for a few years.  Think of that series that was on BBC and The Discovery Channel a few years ago called Planet Earth, and then add ecological concerns to it.  This is a beautiful and thought-provoking film that should be watched by everyone.

This film was released in 2009 under a Creative Commons license, and it is approx. 1 hour and 33 minutes in length.

Welcome to Radically Free

This site will feature downloads and online videos for people that consider themselves "radicals."  There are many types of radicals in the world.  The types of radicals that will feel most at home here will be those political "leftists":  liberals, socialists, communists, anarchists, left-leaning libertarians, and those wishing for social justice and equality in general.

Some may ask why I would post free stuff on a blog when they can be found all over the internet.  That may be true, but some people may fear being "caught" downloading material that has a copyright.  The RIAA, the MPAA, etc. have succeeded in gaining enormous influence and power, going as far as sometimes being able to tell what people download through their ISP.  Many of us feel that this is an egregious assault on our individual privacy.  That is where this site comes into play.  Everything featured on this site is 100% legal and free to download or view.  These downloads have been released by the authors/artists/directors/publishers for free.  Please feel free to re-post anything you see on this site.

And, of course, if I have mistakenly posted something that is not legal and you are the artist/author/publisher, please email me and I will happily remove it.
